Remarks

Below, we share important information and recommendations you should consider to make the most of this experience during the Hanal Pixán - Day of the Dead in Mérida 2026 celebration:

Arrival and Reception:

The group will be received at the airport or train station in Mérida on October 28, 2026. It is important that you make sure to arrive on time for the transfer to Hotel El Conquistador. Upon check-in, there will be an information meeting with the assigned guide, who will present the detailed program and answer any questions you may have before starting the activities.

Paseo de las Ánimas – October 31:

One of the most special moments of the tour is participation in the Paseo de las Ánimas. The meeting is scheduled for 6:00 PM at the General Cemetery of Mérida. Punctuality is recommended, as this procession is a massive event that gathers hundreds of people. Traditional attire will be included: huipil and headdress for women, and guayabera and hat for men. We ask you to wear the attire correctly and respectfully, as it is part of a deeply significant cultural tradition for the Yucatecan community.

Mayan Cooking Class:

During the visit to Hacienda Sotuta de Peón on October 30, you will participate in a Mayan cooking class where you'll learn to prepare PIB (Mucbipollo), a traditional dish of the season. If you have any dietary restrictions or allergies, we recommend informing the guide or tour operator in advance so the necessary measures can be taken.

Bilingual Guide:

You will have a bilingual guide throughout the tour, who will accompany you at every activity. This professional will be available to provide you with information in both Spanish and English about the traditions, history, and culture of Yucatán. Take advantage of their knowledge to enrich your experience at every site visited.

Meals:

Remember that the package only includes the daily buffet breakfast at the hotel. For lunches and dinners, we suggest exploring the wide gastronomic offer of Mérida and the surroundings, where you can taste traditional Yucatecan dishes such as cochinita pibil, panuchos, and much more. It is advisable to carry some cash to cover these meals during the day's outings.

Transportation:

Transfers between the different destinations on the itinerary are included. However, remember that transport from Cancún to Mérida is not included in the package, so you will need to arrange it independently if your point of arrival is the Cancún airport.

Free time suggestion:

On day 2 (October 29), after visiting Uxmal and Choco-Story, you will have free time. It is suggested to take this opportunity to enjoy a Turibus tour, departing from Plaza Paseo 60, an excellent way to get to know the main points of interest in Mérida in a comfortable and entertaining way.

Respect for Traditions:

Hanal Pixán is a deeply rooted Mayan tradition in Yucatán's culture, honoring the dead through altars, traditional food, prayers, and music. We ask you to participate with respect and cultural sensitivity in all activities, especially those related to ceremonies and processions. This experience is a unique opportunity to understand and value one of Mexico's most authentic cultural expressions.
